Medical Billing Solutions
PMIS offers a range of Economical Billing Services to meet the needs of the sole practitioner and the multi-speciality group practice. PMIS chose GE Healthcare's Groupcast ® as the foundation for medical billing. Groupcast is a fully-integrated information system which includes:
- Billing and accounts receivable processing to manage financial data and provide proper revenue collection
- Patient appointment scheduling with follow-up reminders and letters
- Comprehensive management information reporting
- Eligibility verification through batch or on-request processing
Accounts receivable management includes coding and charge capture, claims submission, payment posting, and follow-up for inquiry resolution, appeals, and collections. Providers may choose to outsource any or all parts of the A/R process.
Coding
Although the provider is ultimately responsible for choosing the appropriate description of the diagnosis and procedure, PMIS employs Certified Professional Coders so that the provider does not have to choose the corresponding diagnosis and procedure codes. PMIS frequently works with individual clients to provide coding guidance related to payer requirements.
HIPAA
All third-party software and independent contractors used by PMIS are HIPAA-compliant. PMIS has Business Associate Agreements with each client and PMIS personnel are fully trained regarding HIPAA regulations.
Insurance Processing
Once claims have been filed, PMIS account representatives are responsible for tracking individual claims until completed by the payer. Because the contractual allowed amount is recorded for each payer, PMIS can determine whether the insurer has processed the claim according to the provider's contract.
Account representatives are responsible for written and telephone inquiries from insurers and from patients. A series of patient contact efforts are used including telephone calls and letters to encourage prompt patient payment.
